It's difficult for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have already been conquered.

We're talking about the squad that has won seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained over three years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the record chasers, are what's still available for a team that has won it all.

That it took as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the bowling attack that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It is hard for their batters to maintain a record if not afforded the possibility.

Ultimately, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy being given a chance to deliver her newest gem.

Originally famous as the 19-year-old niece of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

A T20 championship victory happened three months after her bow and seven global championships have come from 10 attempts across formats.

The gritty keeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India momentarily interrupted the winning streak.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy commented earlier.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this latest epic knock exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Some will argue the argument supporting final game tension. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this century was far harder to anticipate.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this performance came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it has been a frustrating experience because it appeared my form was missing completely," commented Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your competitive instincts kick in and you completely engage with the match."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her great strength - and an irreplaceable characteristic in taking over from famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, out to the emerging pace bowler in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

A single was taken off Gaud's first delivery and from that point the right-hander was on her way.

"A chance to play and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at a World Cup - and her century in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

Once she was removed Australia required another 66 at one run per ball - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the confidence to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, should it happen, we are confident we can do it."

That comment will be the last Australia's opponents at this championship want to hear.

During the last week a sense they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this success coming after success over Pakistan by 107 runs despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

It was at that stage they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at an important competition.

So great is her will, she afterwards commented she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

However although she subsequently acknowledged those injuries have postponed consideration of ending her career, this World Cup is expected to be her last as captain in one-day cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as leader.

Victory in India would bring her to the top of her last major obstacle.
